The 32nd Top Half Folk Festival
Queen's Birthday Weekend 2002
June 7th - 10th
|
 |
This year's festival was presented by the Top
End Folk Club with the assistance of The Mary River Park and Folk Clubs
associated with the Top Half Folk Federation. The festival committee acknowledges
the contribution from 'Outback 2002 Ltd' and appreciates the support of
all performers who donated their skills and time.
The Festival this year celebrated 'The Year of the Outback' by focusing
on singers and songwriters from the Northern Territory.
Territory artists included, Ted Egan, Scott Balfour & Bob Barford (members
of Bloodwood), Murphy & Friends, The Darwin Ceili Band, Suzette Watkins,
Brenda Williams, Priscilla Rowlands, and a special performance by members
of the Mills Family all making wonderful contributions to the festival.
Other artists to feature were the talented West Australians, Sean Roche
and Phil Beck; and the amusing tales of Jim Smith and Campbell 'The Swaggie'
Irving.
The Top Half Folk Festival is always a great Festival - lots of laid back
fun with great sessions. This year was no exception, the Festival was
held at Mary River Park - Arnhem Highway NT.
Thanks again to everyone for making the festival the fun weekend it was.

Kids stuff
The little folkies printed a special kids festival
t/shirt with Kate de Koning and Jayne Nankivell - they were just gorgeous;
each and every one an individual work of art.

Workshop: Ted Egan
This was a wonderfully informative performance
presented by Ted Egan. Ted has a wealth of historical knowledge
that he imparts as background before his songs and he accompanies
himself on a 'victorphone' (an empty VB carton).
"A true entertainer".
